Abstract

Pedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća sve što se računalom moglo je rezervirati let za klijenta i spremiti to u svoju evidenciju. Usporedimo li to sa današnjim mogućnostima tehnologija je napravila ogroman pomak u turizmu. Poboljšala je sve što danas radimo pa tako napravila i veliki doprinos turističkim agencijama i ostalim područjima turizma. Njen utjecaj osjeti se danas na dnevnoj bazi.
Internet omogućava brzu komunikaciju sa svim partnerima putničkih agencija, tako da rezerviranje putovanja danas traje samo nekoliko minuta, a ne sati. Produktivnost se povećava, zadovoljstvo kupaca je poboljšano, a turističke agencije dobivaju rezervacije dovoljno brzo da mogu uskladiti svoje limitirane kadrovske i financijske resurse.
Za agencije je svakako negativna činjenica da klijenti mogu koristeći Internet doći do velike količine informacija, te mogu bolje i brže procijeniti ne samo ponudu pojedinih agencija, nego ih i zaobići u planiranju putovanja. Turističke agencije suočavaju se s činjenicom da će klijenti prvo na Internetu pregledati kritike te ostale informacije i na temelju toga odlučiti o rezervaciji mjesta. Biti u stanju riješiti ovaj kompleksan problem modernog potrošača zahtijeva vještine prepoznavanja potreba svojih klijenata i stalno prilagođavanje potrebama klijenata.
No unatoč svim problemima, više od polovice putničkih agencija vjeruju da im tehnologija pruža veće mogućnosti u upravljanju turizmom jer im pomaže s pristupačnosti klijenata kao i s financijskim transakcijama uplata samih putovanja.

Abstract (english)

In the 1950s everything the computers might have done was to book a flight for a client and then keep it in their records. If we compare it with the current possibilities, technology has made enormous progress in tourism. It improved everything we do today and also made a big contribution to the travel agencies and other tourism areas. Its influence can be felt today on a daily basis.
Technology allows fast communication with all of travel agencies partners, so when we book a travel today, it takes only a few minutes, not hours. Productivity increases, customer satisfaction has improved, and tourist agencies are booking fast enough that they can harmonize their limited personnel and financial resources.
A negative fact for travel agencies is that customers can reach a large amount of information by using the Internet, they can do better and quicker assessment of not only the offer from individual agencies, but can also bypass the planning of the trip itself. Travel agencies are faced with the fact that clients first go on the Internet to review and critique the destination information, and based on that, decide whether to book a place or not. Being able to solve this complex problem requires skills to recognize the needs of the clients and constant adjustment to it.
But in spite of all the problems, more than half of travel agencies believe that technology offers greater opportunities in tourism management as it helps them with accessibility to clients as well as financial transactions of payments.
