Abstract

The topic of this undergraduate thesis is the concept and analysis of blockchain technology that appears as a relatively new and interesting topic among economists. It is precisely this technology that has brought novelty, primarily into the operation of cash transactions, and is further developed for many other purposes in business where it can bring significant benefits.
After the introductory chapter, I present the theoretical analysis of blockchain technology and then give further discussion on the concepts of blockchain, its consensus and some of its methods, block structure, and cryptography within the chain of blocks.
Further on, this paper will examine the role of blockchain technology in modern banking industry and the whole financial sector and inspect its potential benefits and flaws.
Lastly, I will provide an example of private blockchain application and show how it is used and what are its purposes.

Abstract (croatian)

Tema ovog završnog rada je koncept i analiza blockchain tehnologije koja se pojavljuje kao relativno nova i zanimljiva tema među ekonomistima. Upravo je ta tehnologija donijela novost, prvenstveno u poslovanju s novčanim transakcijama, a dalje se razvija za mnoge druge svrhe u poslovanju gdje može donijeti značajne koristi.
Nakon uvodnog poglavlja predstavljam teorijsku analizu blockchain tehnologije i zatim dalje raspravljam o konceptima blockchaina, njegovom konsenzusu i nekim njegovim metodama, strukturi blokova i kriptografiji unutar lanaca blokova.
Nadalje, ovaj rad će ispitati ulogu blockchain tehnologije u suvremenoj bankarskoj industriji i cijelom financijskom sektoru te pregledati njezine potencijalne koristi i nedostatke.
Na kraju ću vam dati primjer osobne, individualne aplikacije blockchain tehnologije i pokazati kako se ona koristi i koje su njezine svrhe.
