Abstract

Poremećaj slušnog procesiranja (PSP) podrazumijeva perceptivne teškoće u obradi slušnih informacija u središnjem živčanom sustavu, koje se javljaju kod osoba urednog sluha. Uzrok PSP-a nije točno utvrđen, te se procjenjuje da zahvaća 2-5% dječje populacije. PSP može koegzistirati s raznim drugim poremećajima, poput jezičnih teškoća i teškoća učenja, no nikada nije posljedica tih teškoća. Procjena i terapija PSP-a zahtijevaju sveobuhvatni i multidisciplinarni pristup. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati slušno procesiranje djece starije vrtićke dobi, odnosno utvrditi učestalost pojave poremećaja slušnog procesiranja te utvrditi postoje li razlike u slušnom procesiranju s obzirom na spol. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 114 djece kronološke dobi od 5;05 do 6;05 godina. Ispitani su pomoću Baterije testova za ispitivanje poremećaja slušnog procesiranja PSP-1, koja se sastoji od četiri subtesta (test filtriranih riječi, test govora u buci, dihotički test riječi te dihotički test rečenica). Rezultati su pokazali da učestalost poremećaja slušnog procesiranja kod djece starije vrtićke dobi iznosi 2,28% što je u skladu s rezultatima dosadašnjih istraživanja. Također, utvrđeno je da ne postoje statistički značajne razlike između djevojčica i dječaka u slušnom procesiranju na svim subtestovima, osim na dihotičkom testu rečenica, i to na testu za lijevo uho, na kojem su djevojčice postigle značajno bolje rezultate od dječaka. Rano prepoznavanje djece s poremećajima slušnog procesiranja je nužno radi prevencije negativnih posljedica te pružanja pravovremene terapije.

Abstract (english)

Auditory processing disorder (APD) refers to perceptual difficulties processing auditory information in the central nervous system demonstrated by individuals with normal hearing. The cause of APD has not been precisely determined, and it is estimated that it strikes 2-5% of children population. APD can coexist with various other disorders, such as language and cognitive difficulties, but it is never an effect of them. A holistic and multidisciplinary approaches are used to evaluate and treat APD. The purpose of this study was to analyze auditory processing in older kindergarten children, i.e. to determine the frequency of auditory processing disorder appearance and to establish if any gender related difference exists. 114 children participated in the study, ranging from 5;05 to 6;05 of age. They were subjected to a Test battery for auditory processing disorders PSP-1, which consists of four subtests (filtered words test, auditory figure-ground test, dichotic words test and dichotic sentence test). The results show that the frequency of auditory processing disorder in older kindergarten children is 2,28% which is compliant with the results of previous studies. Moreover, it is established that no statistically significant differences in auditory processing between girls and boys exist in all subtests, except for dichotic sentence test, for left ear, which shows significantly better performance by girls. In order to prevent negative consequences and provide an on time treatment it is necessary to identify children with auditory processing disorder as early as possible.
