Abstract

U današnje vrijeme na tržištu elektroničkih komunikacijskih usluga i mreža na djelu je proces konvergencije pokretnih i nepokretnih mreža, koji je posljedica trendova kao što su rast tržišta pokretnih mreža i stagnacija tržišta nepokretnih mreža, zamjena nepokretne telefonije pokretnom, te zahtjevi korisnika za sveprisutnim širokopojasnim pristupom i pokretljivošću. Jedan od primjera konvergencije nepokretnih i pokretnih mreža je konvergencija WLAN i pokretnih mreža. Ovaj magistarski rad analizira besprekidno prebacivanje komunikacije prilikom prelaska iz WLAN mreže u pokretnu mrežu i obrnuto, što omogućuje pokretljivost korisnika i usluga. U radu su analizirane mreže nove generacije s naglaskom na tržišne i regulatorne aspekte, te utjecaj novih tehnologija na upravljanje spektrom. Obrađena je vertikalna pokretljivost i značajke vertikalnog prebacivanja komunikacije. Dan je pregled međusobnog rada WLAN mreža i 3GPP sustava, modela integracije i mogućih arhitektura međusobnog rada. Rezultati analiza su verificirani na studijskim primjerima javno dostupnih telekomunikacijskih usluga koje se temelje na besprekidnom prebacivanju komunikacije između WLAN i pokretnih mreža, s naglaskom na regulatorna i ekonomska pitanja.

Abstract (english)

Nowadays, on the market of electronic communication services and networks there is an ongoing fixed-mobile convergence process as a consequence of trends such as growth of mobile networks market and decline of fixed networks market, fixed to mobile substitution, and user's requirements for mobility and ubiquitous broadband services. One of the examples of the fixed-mobile convergence is WLAN-mobile convergence. This thesis analyse seamless vertical handover between WLAN and mobile network, allowing mobility of subscribers and services. New generation networks, with stress on market and regulatory aspects, are analysed, as well as effect of emerging technologies on spectrum management. Vertical mobility and characteristics of vertical handover are presented. Analysis of WLAN-3GPP interworking, integration models and possible interworking architectures are given. Results of analysis are verified on study cases of commercially available offerings of telecommunications services based on seamless vertical handover between WLAN and mobile networks, with stress on regulatory and economy issues.
