Abstract

Nehrđajući čelik je danas jedan od najčešće korištenih materijala u različitim dijelovima industrije zbog svojih zavidnih svojstava. To je legirani materijal s minimalnim udjelom kroma od 10,5 % te maksimalnim udjelom ugljika od 1,2 %. Zbog određenog udjela kroma nehrđajući čelik tvori pasivni sloj na površini materijala čime se sprječava korozija materijala. Premda se radi o materijalu koji pasivira, ipak je podložan pojavi pittinga. Stoga je u ovom radu provedeno istraživanje s ciljem dodatne zaštite nehrđajućeg čelika i njegovo poboljšanje korozijske otpornosti primjenom oktadecil fosfonske kiseline (ODPA) te stearinske kiseline tehnologijom stvaranja samoorganizirajućih monoslojeva (SAM-ova) na površini materijala. U ovom istraživanju ispitivan je polarizacijski otpor netretiranog nehrđajućeg čelika tipa 316 te obrađenog čelika stearinskom i fosfonskom kiselinom koncentracija 0,005M, 0,0005M i 0,01M metodom linearne polarizacije, te su određeni polarizacijski parametri metodom tafelove ekstrapolacije u svrhu određivanja korozijske struje i korozijskog potencijala. Metodom elektrokemijske impedancijske spektroskopije određivana je promjena faznog kuta te modula Z koji predstavalja promjenu otpora u ovisnosti o frekvenciji. Uvid u površinsko stanje o mogućoj pojavi korozije (pittinga) postignut je elektronskim pretražnim mikroskopom (EIS). Rezultati su pokazali da korozijska stabilnost nehrđajućeg čelika tretirana različitim koncentracijama stearinske i oktadecil fosfonske kiseline ovisi o temperaturi i koncentraciji. U istraživanju je pokazano kako najveći polatizacijski otpor kao i njegovo povećanje, a time i najbolje zaštita od korozije, ima uzorak tretiran 0,01M oktadecil fosfonskom kiselinom pri temperaturi oksidacije od 80°C. Sličan trend prati i stearinsku kiselinu, no usporedno sa ODPA, stearinska kiselina ima niže polarizacijske otpore u odnosu na ODPA iste koncentracije i temperature oksidacije. Površinska analiza je pokazala kako bez obzira na to tretira li se nehrđajući čelik s ODPA ili stearinskom kiselinom, pojava pittinga je i dalje prisutna te će daljnja zaštita nehrđajućeg čelika od pittinga biti predmet daljnjih istraživanja.

Abstract (english)

Stainless steel is one of the most commonly used materials in different parts of industry because of its enviable properties. It is alloyed material with a minimum chromium content of 10.5% and a maximum carbon content of 1.2%. Because of certain content of chromium, stainless steel forms a passive layer on the surface of the material which prevents corrosion. Although this is a material which is passivated, it still undergoes to pitting. In this work, research has been conducted with the aim of additional protection of stainless steel and improvement of its corrosion resistance by using octadecyl phosphonic acid (ODPA) and stearic acid technology to create self-assembling monolayers (SAMs) on the surface of the material. In this research the polarization resistance of untreated stainless steel type 316 and processed steel stearic and phosphonic acid concentration 0,005M, 0,0005M and 0.01 M have been investigated by linear polarization method, and specific polarization parameters of Tafel extrapolation method have been expressed to determine the corrosion current and corrosion potential. The method of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) determined phase angle and module Z that represent a change of resistance as function of frequency. Insight into the surface condition on the possible occurrence of corrosion (pitting) has been achieved with scanning electron microscope (EIS). The results showed that the corrosion stability of stainless steel treated with different concentrations of stearic acid and octadecyl phosphonic acid depends on the temperature and concentration. In this research it has been shown that highest polarization resistance and its increase, and therefore the best corrosion protection, has a sample treated with a 0.01 M octadecyl phosphonic acid oxidated at temperature of 80°C. A similar trend is monitored with stearic acid, but compared to ODPA, stearic acid has a lower polarization resistance regarding to the same concentration and oxidation temperature of ODPA. Surface analysis showed that regardless of whether the treated stainless steel with ODPA or stearic acid, pitting phenomenon is still present, so the better protect of stainless steel from pitting will have to be the subject of further research.
