Abstract

Kroz povijest su se osobe s tjelesnim invaliditetom smatrale aseksualnima pa prema tome i nesposobnima za ostvarivanje roditeljske uloge. Novija istraţivanja negiraju ove predrasude te osobe s tjelesnim invaliditetom danas imaju sva prava kao i osobe bez invaliditeta, uključujući i pravo na seksualnost, a samim time i pravo na roditeljstvo. Mogu imati jako dobre roditeljske kompetencije i biti briţni roditelji iako nemaju prosječne motoričke sposobnosti, no uglavnom ih se u tome obeshrabruje te je upravo područje roditeljstva jedno od područja gdje se poboljšanja nešto sporije odvijaju. U ovom radu dati ćemo kratki pregled dosadašnjih spoznaja i istraţivanja o roditeljima s tjelesnim invaliditetom, nakon toga slijedi kratki pregled prava na temelju značajnih dokumenata na međunarodnoj i nacionalnoj razini. U drugom dijelu ovoga rada osvrnut ćemo se na poteškoće i potrebe koje proizlaze iz ograničenja s kojima se suočavaju ovi roditelji. Na kraju ćemo prikazati vaţnosti pruţanja podrške u ostvarivanju roditeljske uloge, neke od izvora formalne i neformalne podrške roditeljstvu te primjere dobre prakse u pruţanju podrške roditeljima s tjelesnim invaliditetom.

Abstract (english)

Throughout history, people with physical disabilities have been considered asexual and than unable to exercise their parenting role. Recent research denies this prejudice, and people with physical disabilities today have all the rights as well as people with no disabilities, including the right to sexuality, and thus the right to parenthood. They can have very good parenting skills and be careful parents although they do not have the average motor skills, but society mostly discourages them. The area of parenting is one of the areas where improvements are taking place somewhat slower. In this paper we will give a brief overview of the present knowledge and research about parents with physical disabilities, followed by a brief overview of rights based on significant documents at the international and national level. In the second part of this paper, we will look at the difficulties and needs that arise from the constraints faced by these parents. In the end, we will show the importance of providing support for parenting, some sources of formal and informal parenting support, and examples of good practice in providing support to parents with physical disabilities.
