Abstract

Mergers and acquisitions are one of the models for achieving external growth of a company, and nowadays it is one of the most interesting forms of internationalization of business. With this growth model, businesses seek to harness the resources, potential, skills and power of other businesses to build their own business strategy. There are various motives for companies to decide on a merger and acquisition strategy, and some of the most important ones are: entering new markets, expanding their product and service offerings, reducing competition, accessing new distribution channels and suppliers, developing new products, etc. to show how mergers and acquisitions affect the resizing of businesses in the fashion industry. Also, a case study was conducted on the example of LVMH Group, namely the merger of fashion house Louis Vuitton and Moét & Hennessy to investigate the impact of an acquisition on their business after the acquisition. The research showed that the LVMH Group operates successfully, without risk, and is recognized in the network as the strongest brand of business in the fashion industry.
