Abstract

Šećerna bolest ili Diabetes mellitus kronična je nezarazna bolest koju karakterizira povišena koncentracija glukoze u krvi. Zbog sve veće prevalencije pretilosti i nezdravih obrazaca ponašanja, poput nepravilne prehrane i tjelesne neaktivnosti, koji su glavni čimbenici rizika razvoja bolesti, broj oboljelih je u kontinuiranom porastu. Istraživanja su pokazala da ključnu ulogu u kontroli i liječenju bolesti imaju: samokontrola bolesti, edukacija, nutritivna i farmakološka terapija te tjelesna aktivnost. U radu je ispitivano znanje osoba liječenih u Sveučilišnoj klinici Vuk Vrhovac, o prehrani i životnim navikama povezanima sa šećernom bolešću. Uključeno je 196 pacijenata, oba spola prosječne dobi 64 ± 9,7 godina. Analizom rezultata provedenog ispitivanja utvrđeno je da osobe oboljele od šećerne bolesti imaju znatno bolje znanje o načinu života važnog za kontrolu i regulaciju bolesti, u odnosu na znanje o pravilnoj prehrani kod šećerne bolesti. Utvrđeno je i da ispitanici liječeni u bolničkom sustavu imaju bolje stečeno znanje o šećernoj bolesti od onih koji se liječe u domovima zdravlja.

Abstract (english)

Diabetes or Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by an elevated level of blood glucose. Due to the increasing prevalence of obesity as well as unhealthy behavior patterns such as improper diet and physical inactivity, the number of patients is continuously rising. Research has shown that self-control of the disease, education, nutritional and pharmacological therapy, and physical activity play a key role in treatment and disease control. In this thesis, the knowledge of people being treated at the Vuk Vrhovac University Clinic was examined, regarding dietary behavior, nutrition and lifestyle habits related to diabetes. 196 patients, both sexes, average age 64 ± 9.7 were included. Analyzing the results of the questionnaire, it was determined that people suffering from diabetes have significantly better knowledge about the lifestyle important for regulation of diabetes, compared to knowledge of the proper nutrition for its regulation. It was also established that respondents who are treated in the hospitals have better knowledge about diabetes than those who are treated in health centers.
