Abstract

Portugal je kao mala europska država značajno sudjelovao u promjenama koje su zahvatile afrički kontinent u zadnjih pet stoljeća, a naročito u razdoblju 1885.-1975. kada je nesmiljenom žestinom provodio režim u svojim kolonijama. Portugal je bio prva strana država koja je došla u Afriku u 15. stoljeću i posljednja koja je iz nje otišla. Tijekom tog razdoblja mnogo se toga promijenilo, kako u Portugalu, tako i u njihovim posjedima, a kasnije kolonijama u Africi. Odnos Portugala prema svojim kolonijama u Africi kao i materijalno i nematerijalno nasljeđe koje je taj kolonijalizam ostavio bit će glavna tema ovog diplomskog rada. U radu je dan historijsko-geografski prikaz portugalskog boravka u Africi te portugalski odnos prema Africi kao i kulturni, društveni, ekonomski i tome slični utjecaji. Na kraju rada prikazane su i današnje poveznice između Portugala i bivših kolonija te je dana i usporedba Portugala kao kolonizatorske države s ostalim državama koje su imale svoje kolonije u Africi.

Abstract (english)

As a quite small european country Portugal significantly contested in the changes that changed African continent in the last five centuries, especially in the period 1885.-1975. when the regime that portuguese government was maintaining was repressive. Portugal was the first foreign country to enter Africa in 15th century and the last one that to leave it. During this period, many things have changed, as in Portugal, as in its colonies. Portuguese relationship with their colonies and material and cultural inheritance that this particural colonialism left in Africa will be the main topic of this Master thesis. In this thesis is given historical and geographical view to the period of colonization, as is also given the cultural, economical, social and demographical impact. At the end of the thesis, present connections between Portugal and former colonies are shown as is given the comparison between all european colonizators that played significant roles in african development.
