Abstract

Hrvatski dio Baranje sastavni je dio Istočne Hrvatske, regije koja se od sredine 1990-ih godina vremenu ističe osjetnim zaostajanjem u regionalnom razvoju države. Zbog ustrojenosti u okviru Osječko-baranjske županije, koja pod utjecajem razvijenog makro regionalnog središta bilježi razmjerno povoljnije razvojne trendove, recentni razvojni problemi Baranje relativno su slabije poznati. To nalaže potrebu za pobližim razmatranjem postojećih problema i mogućnosti regionalnog razvoja tog prostora u novim razvojnim uvjetima, nastalim pridruživanjem Hrvatske Europskoj uniji. U radu su istražena suvremena razvojna obilježja Baranje, s težištem na interakciji između stanovništva, njegovih funkcija i struktura, te prostorno-razvojnih učinaka. Pritom su primijenjene odgovarajuće geografske, odnosno interdisciplinarne metode i tehnike rada. Nakon provedenog istraživanja, zaključeno je da je za postizanje održivog razvoja i prostorno-funkcionalne organizacije potrebno provoditi mjere i instrumente koji će podići strukturu i dohodovnost gospodarstva, demografski stabilizirati prostor te očuvati prirodnu i kulturnu baštinu na cijelom području regije te na taj način omogućiti teritorijalnu koheziju.

Abstract (english)

Croatian part of Baranja is an integral part of the eastern Croatian, the region which highlights from the mid-1990s a marked retardation in the regional development of the country. Because of organization of within the Osijek-Baranja County, which under the influence of developed macro-regional centers recorded a relatively favorable development trends, recent development problems Baranja are relatively less known. This suggests the need for a more detailed examination of existing problems and possibilities of regional development of the area in terms of new development, occurred by Croatian joining the European Union. In the paper it was explored contemporary developmental characteristics of Baranja, with emphasis on the interaction between population, its functions and structure, and spatial developmental effects. In so doing are applied corresponding geographic oriented disciplinary methods and techniques. After the research, it was concluded that sustainable development and spatial-functional organization can be achieved through implementation of measures and instruments that will raise the profitability and structure of the economy, demographic stabilize area and preserve the area's natural and cultural heritage throughout the region and in that way enable territorial cohesion.
